What are cookies
Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your phone or computer. Similar technologies, such as local storage and pixels, do the same job, and we call them all “cookies” here. Cookies can be first-party (set by this website) or third-party (set by another company, such as Google or Microsoft).
How we use cookies
Essential cookies: always on
These are needed for the website to work and to remember your cookie choice. They do not track you for analytics and cannot be switched off here. You can block them in your browser, but parts of the site may then not work as expected.
Analytics cookies: only with your permission
These help us understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it. We use Google Analytics (loaded through Google Tag Manager) and Microsoft Clarity. They are off until you accept, and you can turn them off again at any time.
Advertising cookies: not used
We do not use advertising, remarketing or social-media tracking cookies on this website.
Cookies we use
| Cookie | Set by | Purpose | Lasts | Type |
|---|---|---|---|---|
vp_consent | This website | Remembers your cookie choice | 180 days | Essential |
_ga | Google Analytics | Distinguishes unique visitors to produce visit statistics | 2 years | Analytics |
_ga_<ID> | Google Analytics | Keeps session state for Google Analytics 4 | 2 years | Analytics |
_clck | Microsoft Clarity | Stores the Clarity user ID and preferences | 1 year | Analytics |
_clsk | Microsoft Clarity | Groups page views into one session recording | 1 day | Analytics |
CLID | Microsoft Clarity | Identifies the first time Clarity saw this browser | 1 year | Analytics |
ANONCID, MUID, SM, MR | Microsoft (clarity.ms / bing.com) | Microsoft identifiers used by Clarity to sync a browser across sites and manage the session | Session to 1 year | Analytics |
Google Tag Manager itself does not set cookies; it only loads the tools above. Cookie names and lifetimes are set by Google and Microsoft and may change. Our hosting infrastructure (Hostinger) may also set technical cookies strictly necessary for security or delivering the page. If you tap a WhatsApp link, WhatsApp’s own site may set cookies under its own policy.
Consent and Google Consent Mode
When you first visit, a banner asks whether to allow analytics cookies. Until you choose, analytics storage is denied. We use Google Consent Mode v2, which tells Google tags whether you have allowed analytics storage, and we pass the same choice to Microsoft Clarity. Choosing “Essential only” means no Google Analytics or Clarity cookies are stored. Without your consent, Google may still receive limited, cookieless pings used for basic measurement, with no cookie identifiers stored on your device.
We remember your choice in the vp_consent cookie for 180 days and then ask again. If you withdraw consent, we also delete the Google Analytics and Clarity cookies that this site can reach.
How to control cookies
- On this site: use Cookie Settings (also linked in the footer of every page) to accept or refuse analytics cookies at any time.
- In your browser: you can block or delete cookies from the browser’s settings (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge and others all provide this). Blocking all cookies may affect how some websites work.
- Opt-out tools: Google offers a browser add-on to opt out of Google Analytics.
Third-party tools
For how these companies handle data, read their own policies: Google: how Google uses cookies, Microsoft Privacy Statement and Microsoft Clarity terms. Our wider handling of personal data is explained in the Privacy Policy.
Changes and contact
We may update this policy if we add or remove tools or the law changes; the date at the top shows the latest version. Questions about cookies:
